Volkswagen Beetle - GE Plastics Corporate Ad
After several years taking photos for GE Plastics and their Automotive Development Center in Southfield, MI, I figured I had the inside track to illustrate the International Ad Campaign. I called Hensley Segal Rentschler, their ad agency in Cincinnati to introduce myself and tell them of my long history with GE Plastics. They invited me to send some samples of my work, which they reviewed and told me that there were plenty of capable shooters in their neighborhood. My response was "...but I can get the car." My studio was in Auburn Hills, about 1/2 mile from VW USA headquarters and I had already seen a couple of not-yet-introduced models on the streets. When the agency called two days later to set up a shoot date, I had to deliver on my boast to provide the car. And I did. The campaign was the BtoB Ad Campaign of the Year 2000, and two of the six ads were mine.
