Exercise Equipment - LA|Fitness - Troy, MI
Photography as a profession is fraught with challenges. And I knew this when I started my photo business decades ago. But never was this more apparent than last week when I shot for the better part of 3 days for LA Fitness at their Signature Club in Troy, MI.
The assignment, with qualifiers, unfolded something like this. Take photos of all the different areas in the club to show all the features with a balanced viewpoint. And whereas the last time I shot for LA Fitness using staff and trainers as models, this time there were to be no people in the pictures. As much as possible, avoid brand identification and trademarks that might appear on any exercise equipment. Be sure to include photos of the building, which is brand new.
For exterior, architectural views I prefer not to have autos cluttering the pictures. The club opens at 5:00am, the sun rises at about 7:05am and closing time is long after dark every day of the week. The only day that works is Sunday, when it opens at 10. No pressure.
A famous photographer once said, "Anyone can take a picture of a beautiful sunset and make it look good." But here is one example of the pictures I made for LA Fitness, and given the requirements of my assignment, it's as pretty as a sunset.
